In conjunction with Texas A&M University, GCI now offers CEUs for all in-person and online instructor-led courses.
For over 20 years, GCI has added value to the Oil & Gas industry by offering an unparalleled selection of training and certification courses. Our courses are led by instructors that are literally writing the industry standards, through their participation in the API (American Petroleum Institute), AGA (American Gas Association), GPA Midstream, and ISA (International Society of Automation) standards committees. Our instructors are true Subject Matter Experts (SME) with an average of over 25 years of industry expertise and specialization.
We are excited to announce that CEUs (Continuing Education Units), issued through Texas A&M University – Kingsville, are now available for all GCI Natural Gas Measurement, Hydrocarbon Liquids Measurement, and SCADA Training Courses.
Gas Certification Institute offers regularly scheduled courses conducted in Houston, Texas, regularly scheduled on-line instructor-led classes, and customized classes offered at the client’s location. Our courses focus on providing students with a strong core understanding of measurement fundamentals such as physical properties, terminology, units of measure, and calculations, while also tying in the “book knowledge” to industry standards and best practices.
Ranging from 2 ½ days to 9 days, with both in-person and instructor-led online courses, we make it easy to work world-class measurement training into your schedule. If you’re looking for a more custom-fit training solution, we can also bring the training to your location with customized programs taught at your facility.
What is a CEU and Who Needs Them?
CEU stands for Continuing Education Unit. Administered and tracked by accredited colleges, they provide a record of instructor-led training for professional development. One CEU is equivalent to ten (10) contact/working hours in training or furthering education. Many professional organizations, regulatory boards, and certification groups have CEU-based requirements for their members or license holders. In addition, many corporations have CEU requirements tied to advancement opportunities and management roles.
Certifications
Many certifications in the oil & gas industry require you to take courses related to your job duties for initial approval or to maintain active status. GCI courses with continuing education credits can help fulfill those requirements.
Career & Professional Development
If you’re looking to make the move into upper management or expand your career possibilities, education requirements can present a barrier to entry. CEU requirements for a supervisor or managerial role shouldn’t prevent you from taking the steps you need to advance your career.
Make the most out of your training time by enrolling in courses that serve a dual purpose. Enhance your industry knowledge and skillset while earning the continuing education units necessary to take the next big career step.
CEU Course Info
Typically, GCI courses vary in length depending on the certification or qualification they’re covering. Because of the varying class length, the amount of continuing education units awarded for each training will also vary, per the requirements of the issuing University.
CEU certificates are issued directly by Texas A&M University – Kingsville, and the A&M University system also maintains historical records for the students. In order to receive CEU credit, GCI students will complete a simple form at the end of each class. GCI then certifies the number of hours and submits the form. It typically takes 6 – 8 weeks for the student to receive the certificate back from Texas A&M University – Kingsville.
At GCI, our goal is to be the number one source of training and education in the oil & gas industry. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are an added benefit we’re offering to the students we serve.
