Gas Certification Institute (GCI) is prepared to offer flexible measurement training options for oil and gas professionals in 2021. If you or your team needs training on gas measurement, liquid measurement, crude measurement, or SCADA, we are prepared to meet the latest challenges in the post-pandemic environment.
We are committed to resuming in-person training at our facility in Houston, Texas this year. However, we recognize that many companies have not yet authorized personnel to travel during this period of heightened safety and health concerns.
That’s why we are also continuing to offer interactive, online training that we introduced in 2020. We are also capable of providing custom, on-site training where we provide measurement training at your location.
Our Instructor-Led Measurement Training Options in 2021
The common thread for the delivery of all three measurement options is that all classes will remain instructor-led to help professionals achieve confidence in measurement and be ready to apply their learning in the field.
Measurement Training Option #1: In-Person in Houston
In-person measurement training is ideal for oil and gas professionals who are local to Houston or able to travel to Houston with permission from their employer.
Our goal with the delivery of in-person measurement training is to create a safe environment that everyone is comfortable with. This includes students, instructors, and our staff. Because students will be in close quarters for consecutive days, we are committed to taking every health and safety precaution — as recommended by the CDC and local health agencies — to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
When you or your team register for one of our in-person training classes, we will provide you with a list of measures that we will be taking to ensure a safe environment and provide you with a list of protocols that we will follow throughout the duration of training.

We understand that our safety measures and protocols will not be suitable for everyone. That is why we have additional fundamental measurement training options in 2021.
Measurement Training Option #2: Interactive Online Training
In the immediate aftermath of the pandemic in 2020, there was a dramatic shift toward virtual meetings, webinars, and classroom environments across every industry and discipline. We followed suit by introducing interactive online training for oil and gas professionals.
Our goal with this form of measurement training is to replicate in-person training in a virtual format. Our classes are instructor-led, we provide the same course material as an in-person class, and we aim to create the same structured classroom environment where there is scheduled instruction, a requirement to participate through discussion, and the opportunity to ask questions to facilitate learning.
The primary benefit for professionals who take this option is the opportunity to receive training without having to travel to Houston. This saves time and costs for many professionals and their companies, which is especially valuable during the current economic environment.

However, we understand that many professionals are unable to commit to an interactive online training option. That’s why we have a third option in 2021 of custom, on-site training.
Measurement Training Option 3: On-Site Training
In 2021, we will continue to offer customizable training, which includes liquid and natural gas measurement training courses, made available on-site at your facility.
We recommend that participants are already employed in the oil and gas industry so that we can work directly with your employer to provide group training at a designated location.
This is ideal for measurement technicians, gas chromatographers, and field personnel registered by their supervisor or company to increase their knowledge and understanding of how to perform measurement.
The benefit for employers is that your personnel will be prepared to immediately apply their understanding in the field to consistently perform measurement and to deliver accurate results.
– If your company is interested in scheduling custom, on-site training, please contact GCI to arrange training. This will help us gain an understanding of your roster, your location, and how to arrange for our instructors to come on-site to your location.
